AYSI ISEF 2021 Results!

This past May, members and students of AYSI competed at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), the most prestigious science fair in the world! The awards won are as follows:

• First Place and Special Award: Ishaan Javali and Shrey Joshi, Plano East Senior High, Earth and Environmental Sciences, project title: GLAS: A Global Landslide Analytics System
• Second Place and Special Award: Rithvik Ganesh, Plano West Senior High, Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, project title: Tackling Tau: Identifying a Novel Inhibitor for the MSUT-2 Protein based on Quantum Machine Learning for the identification of treatments of Neurodegenerative Diseases
• Second Place and Special Award: Christine Song, Mayo High School, Rochester, MN, United States of America, project title: Cure of Breast Cancer, Year 4: First Discovery of Target Therapy for Aggressive Hormonal Breast Cancer using Clinical Database and 3D Model
• Third Place and Special Award: Govardhan Poondi and John Rho, Plano West Senior High, Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, project title: Non-Invasive, Two-Channel EEG Hearing Aid to Address the Cocktail Party Problem via Multi-Speaker Auditory Attention Decoding
• Special Award: Harshal V. Bharatia, Plano Senior High School, Oracle Academy award outstanding project in systems software ($5,000), project title: DocAide: A Collaborative AI Medical Assistant Using Novel Autonomous Learning
